History of Local Union #322
Local Union #322 was chartered in Casper, Wyoming on November 30, 1914. It went defunct in January, 1933 and was rechartered by 11 dedicated men on February 9, 1934. The only record of the Local's history between 1914 and 1934 is a photograph of 26 members attending a Labor Day celebration in 1934.
The joining together of former Local Union #878 Rawlins, Local Union #884 Rock Springs, Local Union #2036 Thermopolis, the transferring of the line jurisdiction from Local Union #415 Cheyenne and the inside jurisdiction from Local Union #646 Sheridan have each became an integral and important part of Local Union #322. Each has added its separate and individual historical roots which has helped to make the Local as great and successful as it is today. Over the past 56 years, through devotion, sacrifice, and hard work, the Local now has over 500 members.
Today, IBEW local 322 not only represents construction and maintenance Electricians and Lineman but also workers in Yellostone Park, Grand Teton Park and six Rural Electric Associations; Bighorn REA, Carbon Power and Light, High Plains Power, Lower Valley Energy and Powder River Energy. Our membership consists of long time members, newly organized members, members that came in through the apprenticeships, and the apprentices themselves. Our members are what make Local 322 what it is.
